The following terms or names are used in pig production 1. Boar - an un-castrated male pig 2. Sow – a female pig, which has produced one or more litters 3. Gilt – a young female pig approximately 6 to 8 months from the mother pig 4. Farrowing – delivery of piglets by a mother pig Gestation period

Some schools may like to have simple incubators for practice. Incubators differ in operation. One thing is certain though that the eggs must be in the incubator for about 3 weeks. They should be turned over from time to time. 

When you are starting a poultry business, the knowledge of litter comes – first in your mind especially WHEN you want to run a deep litter system. A number of materials are suitable for a deep litter system, but some are more suitable than others.
